Gallbladder removal surgery is performed on patients with severe pain or discomfort caused by the accumulation of hardened fragments of digestive fluid on it.

This surgery is usually carried out employing a laparoscopy, allowing the surgeons’ team to maneuver and extract the gallbladder. This is performed by making between 3 and 4 minimum cuts in the patient’s belly. If it is not possible to remove it in this way, the surgeon may choose to make a more substantial cut to remove the gallbladder completely.
